We had to be in the graduation hall by 9am so coupled with the late hours spent chatting online, I’m sad to report I look half asleep in the family photos.
At least we got there early enough to secure a good parking.
Faced with a scene reminding of secondary schooling days where students are treated as students, graduates are still treated as students, maybe even less deserving of the titles they are getting.
I almost LOL’ed when a teacher started ‘biatching’ on students talking on cellphones as if it’s a sin against king and country and another started grumbling about the lack of discipline among graduates that they are still not lined up in a grid. Perhaps they ought to take a step back and recall that it’s a day of joy and they are not graduates of West Point military school.
I must say I’m impressed with the logistic and arrangement though that every concern is well taken care of. That relatives not in the great hall is not neglected thanks to a projector screen giving excellent footage to everyone.
Also, the event itself take less time than I thought. When they first gave out a thick booklet of all names in the ceremony, I almost gave a cry of frustration, that I forgot to load up my MP3 to last the assumed 3-4 hours of ass numbing boredom. Fortunately the event went quite fast and it was over just when I felt it should be over.
The event managers also stationed ’spies’ among the crowds to control A-holes who talked on cellphones and those who stood up were asked to sit back down.
The event closing is slightly chaotic though that everyone got up and filed to the entrance almost at the same time, with many stopping right after they crossed the main entrance and blocking those who are still in the hall. Need some work on that.
But overall it was a well planned event. I just need to compare it against what my college will do to us on the 16th Aug.
